Public Affairs
AMI represents the mutual sector to the Financial Services Authority, the UK Treasury, UK Politicians, The International Accounting Standards Board the European Union and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors. Through engagement with key groups and individuals, we influence legislation to ensure that the mutual insurance sector remains strong and is provided with an environment in which it can continue to grow.
Public Relations
As consumers in the British public increasingly seek local or socially responsible organisations, the mutual values of trust and engagement have never been more relevant or more necessary in the financial services industry. The public relations function at AMI engages with the financial, trade and consumer media to communicate the understanding and awareness of the sector. A proactive and reactive press office offers a first port of call for all media enquiries.
Networking
Because all mutual insurers exist for the benefit of their members and not for shareholders, there exists a unique willingness to be open, to share best practice and knowledge. As the trade body for the mutual insurance sector, AMI facilitates and hosts high-brow, low-profile networking sessions on key issues affecting its members. Members are provided with an invaluable opportunity to network and to progress.
Training and Development:
Like any professional association, AMI encourages continual training and professional development of all those involved within the sector. From directly related issues such as corporate governance to Solvency II to more general subjects including decision making for directors and public relations, the AMI professional development courses proves an invaluable yet affordable benefit of membership.
Research and Intelligence
Through its links with the International Cooperative and Mutual insurers Federation (ICMIF) AMI remains closely in touch and involved with the UK, European and Global trends within the mutual insurance sector. Involvement in issues at the early stage ensures that AMI is the ears and eyes for its members and aim to influence on their behalf from the very beginning.
Reports
Through its gathering of intelligence and unique connections to the mutual insurers in the UK and abroad, AMI is able to provide a detailed and industry-wide view on key topics and trends with the compilation of reports for the benefit all members.
